Renowned for their articulate response and balanced tonal character, these guitars embody the “perfect balance” described in Gibson’s 1934 catalog. As part of the Gibson Original Collection, the L-00 Original continues that legacy, blending vintage-inspired aesthetics with the comfort, tonal balance, and rich acoustic voice that have made Gibson small-body guitars enduring favorites. It is now equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system, delivering natural amplified tone while faithfully preserving the instrument’s unique character and playing dynamics.

Built with a compact body shape, the L-00 Original features a Sitka spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides. Traditional scalloped X-bracing helps enhance resonance and tonal response, while single-ply binding accents both the top and back. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the guitar’s classic appearance, complemented by lightly antiqued binding that adds to its vintage-inspired appeal.

The mahogany neck features Gibson’s comfortable Slim Taper profile and is joined to the body using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint. A rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius is outfitted with 19 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. At the headstock, a bone nut, Golden Age nickel tuners, and the iconic white-script Gibson logo complete the traditional visual presentation. A rosewood closed-slot rectangle bridge anchors the strings and is fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. The guitar is further distinguished by its classic L-00 pickguard. Combined with the bone nut and saddle, Golden Age tuners, antiqued binding, and script logo, these appointments give the L-00 Original a distinctly vintage-inspired identity within the L-00 lineup.

The L-00 Original now also features the all-new Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system. This active electronics system employs two lightweight sensors attached to the internal bridge plate, each paired with its own optimized preamp. The result is a full, natural amplified acoustic sound that accurately reflects the guitar’s voice and personality without affecting its unplugged tone. The Baggs HiFi DNA system also delivers gain-before-feedback performance comparable to that of an under-saddle pickup design. Convenient soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide quick access for on-the-fly adjustments while remaining virtually hidden from the audience. Combining compact dimensions, vintage-inspired craftsmanship, balanced acoustic performance, and advanced electronics, the L-00 Original celebrates Gibson’s small-body acoustic heritage while offering flexibility for today’s musicians. Ready for studio sessions and live performances alike, it ships in a hardshell case.

SPECIFICATIONS

Body

Binding: Single-ply top, single-ply back

Top Material: Sitka spruce

Sides Material: Mahogany

Back Material: Mahogany

Body Finish: Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer

Body Shape: L-00

Neck

Neck: Mahogany

Profile: Slim Taper

Nut Width: 1.725” / 43.81 mm

Fingerboard: Rosewood

Scale Length: 24.75" / 628.65 mm

Number of Frets: 19

Nut: Bone

Inlay: Mother-of-pearl dots

Hardware

Bridge: Rectangle, closed slot

Tuners: Golden Age

Electronics

Undersaddle Pickup: Baggs HiFi DNA

Controls: 1 volume, 1 tone

Case

Case: Hardshell

Manufacturer: Gibson
Model: OCSBL0HFVS
SKU: I933256-N-21876137-1-WHXD
UPC: 711106246222

We are Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center

Since 1958, Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center has been the trusted destination for musicians and audio professionals across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
