If the input impedance is significantly lower or higher (for example 100 Kilo Ohms or 10 Mega Ohms), you may notice a reduced control range (from “full volume” to “off” within about one-third of the rotation) or, in more extreme cases, a slight hum when the potentiometer is at its middle position. This is a normal behavior of passive potentiometers used with piezo-based pickups.
