This special run of PRS Wood Library McCarty Tremolo guitars brings together a combination you don’t see every day. There’s a little old-school PRS inspiration here, some beautiful wood, and a few departures from the McCarty you might already know.
A Familiar Guitar with a Few Surprises
The McCarty’s vintage-inspired approach makes it a great starting point. But where you’d traditionally find a stoptail bridge, this run features a PRS Gen III tremolo, giving players who like to work the bar a different way into the McCarty family.
The neck takes a different direction, too. We’re pairing that mahogany body with flame maple, stained to match the top, and a ziricote fretboard. The Pattern neck carve rounds out a combination that’s as interesting from the back as it is from the front.
A pair of McCarty III humbuckers keeps things rooted in vintage-inspired territory. Alongside the volume, tone, and three-way pickup selector, this run adds dual mini-toggle EQ switches for additional onboard tone-shaping options.

Wood Library Details Worth Looking At
One of our favorite things about PRS Wood Library guitars is getting to select woods and appointments that you won’t find together on a standard production model. This run puts those choices right out front.
Each guitar features a flame maple 10-Top in Vintage Yellow, with its own figuring giving the finish a slightly different personality. Turn it around, and the figured maple neck gives you another reason to spend some time looking.
Then there are the birds.
The Old School bird inlays feature Pink Heart centers with Sparkle mother-of-pearl outlines, adding a little unexpected color against the ziricote fretboard. They’re a detail you might miss at first glance, but once you notice them, they’re hard to overlook. Hybrid hardware completes the look.
A Color That Takes Us Back
Vintage Yellow has a personal connection here at Chuck’s.
Our own Paul Schein remembers Paul Reed Smith showing him a prototype in that color back in 1984, a guitar that made him want to become a PRS dealer. So when we opened the case on one of these McCartys, the finish brought him right back.
His reaction? “Old school.”
