Preorder the PRS Astryx Limited Edition →
Limited to just 200 instruments, the new PRS Astryx transforms the Custom 24 into a deeply personal signature model for The Warning guitarist Dany Villarreal.
The Ocaso finish may be the first thing you notice. Deep purple, pink, orange, and yellow move across a figured maple 10-Top like the last light of sunset. But the PRS Astryx Limited Edition is much more than a striking new finish.
Created with Dany Villarreal, lead guitarist and co-founder of the powerhouse rock trio The Warning, the Astryx takes the familiar foundation of a PRS Custom 24 and reshapes it around Villarreal's sound, playing style, and personal journey.
This is Villarreal's first signature model, and only 200 instruments will be produced in 2026. Every guitar also comes with an autographed backplate.
Custom 24 at Its Core
As the only guitarist in a three-piece band, Villarreal needs an instrument capable of covering a lot of sonic ground. The Astryx starts with the proven Custom 24 formula: a figured maple top, mahogany back, 24 frets, a 25-inch scale length, and a one-piece mahogany Pattern Thin neck.
One of the most notable changes is the ebony fretboard, which gives the Astryx a distinct feel and appearance while providing a dramatic backdrop for its custom inlays. The body receives PRS's sculpted violin carve and a high-gloss nitro finish, allowing the figuring and color transitions of the Ocaso finish to remain front and center.

Villarreal points to the guitar's sustain, comfortable neck, manageable weight, and ability to fill space in a mix as some of the qualities that make PRS such an important part of her sound.
"As the only guitar player in the band, I love how my PRS takes up a lot of space sonically. It did wonders for our three-piece band."

A Celestial Identity
The Astryx tells Villarreal's story through more than its specifications.
Its name comes from the root word for "star," referencing divine guidance and a connection to something greater than ourselves. That celestial theme continues across the guitar's visual details while also honoring Villarreal's Mexican heritage.
The Solecito inlay at the twelfth fret, with PRS birds running the rest of the ebony board.
The custom fretboard inlay is named Solecito, meaning "little sun," with a distinctive sun design positioned at the twelfth fret. The new Ocaso finish, Spanish for "sunset," moves from purple and pink into glowing shades of orange and yellow across the figured maple top.
Together, the Astryx name, Solecito inlays, and Ocaso finish create a visual identity that feels unmistakably connected to Villarreal's rise as a guitarist and her journey toward finding her own voice.
Dynamic, Musical, and Open
A pair of PRS DMO humbuckers gives the Astryx its voice. PRS describes these pickups as "Dynamic, Musical, Open," with a balanced tonal range and vocal quality designed to retain clarity across different playing styles.
The volume and tone controls are joined by a five-way blade switch offering a versatile range of full-humbucker and coil-split combinations:
- Bridge humbucker
- Bridge humbucker with split neck pickup
- Both humbuckers
- Both pickups coil-split
- Neck humbucker

That flexibility allows the Astryx to move from focused rhythm sounds and wide open chord work to fuller lead tones without adding unnecessary controls to the instrument.
A PRS Patented Gen III Tremolo provides expressive pitch control while supporting tuning stability and playing comfort. PRS Phase III locking tuners combine modern locking functionality with lightweight construction intended to promote resonance and efficient tone transfer.
Hybrid hardware completes the look, pairing the Ocaso finish with a combination of gold and nickel-colored components.
Limited Production, Personal Details
