Taylor Gives the 214ce DLX a Bold New Blacktop Finish
Taylor has taken one of its most familiar acoustic-electric designs and given it an entirely new look.
The Taylor 214ce DLX Special Edition Blacktop pairs the proven 214ce DLX platform with a rich black top, crisp white appointments and satin-black hardware. It is bold without being overcomplicated. Underneath the new finish is the comfortable feel and versatile acoustic voice that have made the 214ce a longtime player favorite.
A Blacktop Built to Stand Out
The centerpiece of this Special Edition is its torrefied spruce top with a rich black finish. That dark top is set against layered Indian rosewood back and sides and a hand-sprayed shaded edgeburst.
Taylor uses white detailing to create a sharp contrast against the black finish, including a three-ring white rosette, white body binding, a white heel cap and thin white purfling. A black pickguard and satin-black tuners keep the rest of the design clean and cohesive, while the gloss body finish gives the color additional depth.
The Familiar 214ce DLX Formula
The new appearance does not come at the expense of the features players expect from the 214ce DLX.
The torrefied spruce top is designed to add warm, played-in character, while Taylor's C-Class bracing supports strong projection and a balanced response across the guitar's register. The result is a versatile acoustic voice suited to strumming, fingerstyle playing and plenty of territory in between.
A slender neck with a satin finish keeps the playing experience comfortable, while Taylor ES2 electronics make the guitar ready to plug in for rehearsals, performances and recording. A Taylor Deluxe Hardshell Case is included.

The 214ce DLX Special Edition Blacktop does not reinvent what makes the 214ce work. Instead, it gives that familiar platform an entirely different attitude.
The high-contrast combination of the black top, white appointments and black hardware immediately separates it from the standard natural-finish acoustic. At the same time, its torrefied spruce top, C-Class bracing, comfortable neck and ES2 electronics keep it grounded in the practical, player-friendly design that made the 214ce popular in the first place.
