The Chauvet Sentinel Wash Q120 and Spot Q60

For a lot of independent rooms, lighting has been the same few static color washes for years. They do the job, right up until the night a touring act's LD asks what you've got for movement and the honest answer is "not much." Moving heads used to mean a budget and a power draw that small stages couldn't carry. The Chauvet Sentinel series exists to change that, with real movers sized and priced for a working club. There are two of them, and they do different jobs.
The Sentinel Wash Q120 is the one for color, mood and coverage. It's a 120 watt RGBW moving wash with a Fresnel lens, which gives you soft, even light across the stage instead of a hard edge. This is the fixture that paints the band in deep, saturated color, sweeps the room between sets, and finally gives a singer songwriter night an actual look. The RGBW mix gets you real colors and a usable white, and master/slave linking lets a few of them move together without a console in the picture.
The Sentinel Spot Q60 is the one for beams, gobos and punch. It's a 60 watt RGBW moving spot with a sharper output, gobo projection, and built in D-Fi wireless so you can hang it where running data would be a pain. Use it for breakup patterns on the back wall, tight beams cutting through haze, and the bit of production value that makes a small stage photograph like a bigger one. It's ILS compatible too, so it folds into a Chauvet rig without a full lighting desk.
So which do you need? Usually both, in that order. Most rooms start with a pair of Wash Q120s to get color and movement on the band, then add Spot Q60s for accents and patterns once the look is established. Both update over USB-C and run from simple onboard menus, so the volunteer on lights Tuesday night isn't buried in a manual.
It's a smart move for clubs and theatres stepping up from static washes, for rooms that want to say yes to a touring act's lighting needs, and for any venue that's figured out good lighting sells the next ticket as surely as good sound does.
