With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Byron Toney, a cherished member of our Chuck Levin's family, who passed away on August 3, 2024, at the age of 76. Byron dedicated over 25 years to our band & orchestra instrument sales, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Life of Service and Music

Born on August 8, 1947, in Oak Ridge, TN, Byron grew up in Paducah, KY, and graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1969. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Music Program from 1969-1990, retiring as a Senior Chief Musician. His musical talents graced the U.S. Naval Academy Band, where he played tuba, string, and electric bass.

A Passion for Music

Byron’s love for music continued beyond his naval service. He performed with The New Moods, Doc Hochman Dixieland Band, and Zim Zemarel Band throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. His commitment to music extended to his roles in the Navy Musicians Association, Fleet Reserve Association, and American Legion.

Beloved Family Man and Community Leader

Thank you Byron….I will always remember you! My last lesson was nearly 35 yrs ago, and I’m still working on it.
