Support Youth in Music: Donate Your Instruments Through The MusicianShip’s Drive
The MusicianShip, a cornerstone of free music education in the Washington Metropolitan Region since 2009, is celebrating 15 years of transformative work in 2024. This milestone marks a renewed commitment to ensuring every young musician has access to quality instruments—a critical factor in their musical journey and success.
From October 15 to December 15, 2024, Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center is partnering with The MusicianShip to host a Used Instrument Donation Drive, giving you a chance to directly impact the lives of aspiring young musicians.
How to Donate:
- Drop Off Location: Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center, 11151 Veirs Mill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20902.
- Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- What to Donate: Instruments such as saxophones, trumpets, trombones, keyboards, flutes, clarinets, drums, percussion, violins, and guitars. (Please note, pianos and upright instruments cannot be accepted due to storage limitations.)
- Registration: Register your instrument donation before dropping it off to streamline the process.
Why It Matters:
Studies show that having a quality, easy-to-play instrument significantly improves focus, confidence, and skill development for beginning musicians. However, the high cost of instruments often prevents students from accessing this essential resource. Your donation helps bridge that gap, providing equitable access to instruments for The MusicianShip’s after-school programs, summer initiatives, and the Washington Youth Choir.
Tax Benefits:
All instrument donations are tax-deductible. Once your donation is accepted, you’ll receive a tax deduction letter via email. For expedited requests, contact Dana Nearing, Director of Operations, at dnearing@themusicianship.org.
Let’s work together to amplify aspirations and provide equitable access to quality instruments for the youth in our community. Drop off your instruments today and be part of a movement that brings music, joy, and opportunity into young lives!
