Display Model: These items are so cool that we put them on display in our legendary shop. The condition is brand new as received from the manufacturer with manufacturer warranty. Rest assured, these items undergo a very careful inspection before shipping.

When you hear the name Thunderbird bass, what comes to mind first? Is it the unmistakable silhouette created by famed automotive designer Ray Dietrich, the sustain-rich nine-ply neck-through-body build, or the commanding low-end produced by its dual bass humbucker pickups? Perhaps it’s the bold, automotive-inspired custom color finishes. Drawing directly from the original reverse-body Gibson Thunderbird’s groundbreaking design, Epiphone proudly unveils the refreshed Thunderbird ’64. Echoing the revered instruments of the mid-60s, this updated model faithfully carries forward the defining traits that made those basses legendary, from its nine-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through-body construction to the signature hot-stamped Thunderbird logo set into the three-ply pickguard.
Lift it from the included premium gig bag and plug in, and the Thunderbird ’64 immediately reveals its deep, full-bodied voice. This rich sound is driven by a matched set of ProBucker 760 Bass humbucker pickups, complemented by CTS potentiometers for smooth, reliable control. Each pickup is equipped with its own volume knob, allowing you to run them independently or dial in any blend you prefer, while a master tone control expands your shaping options further. Although its spirit is rooted firmly in vintage tradition, modern refinements ensure dependable performance. A Graph Tech nut enhances tuning consistency, and Clover-button tuners with a precise 19:1 ratio provide added stability. The Epiphone Vintage Bass Tune-O-Matic bridge allows for exact intonation on every string, while the Epiphone Vintage Bass Claw tailpiece anchors the strings securely into the neck-through-body design, contributing to impressive sustain and tonal depth.
Built to a full 34” scale, the Thunderbird ’64 features a nine-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through-body paired with mahogany body wings, mirroring the construction of its vintage predecessors for exceptional rigidity and durability. The neck is shaped with a comfortable 60s Rounded Bass profile that feels natural in the hand and supports smooth movement across the entire rosewood fretboard. Outfitted with 20 medium jumbo frets and detailed with pearloid dot inlays, it offers a playing surface that is both familiar and highly playable. Versatile enough for virtually any musical setting, the Thunderbird ’64 is available in Ember Red and Silver Mist. It captures the sound, style, feel, and key specifications of a coveted vintage Thunderbird bass, now made accessible for today’s players and ready to perform on any stage.
