Mint or Open Box: The item may have been opened and tested but has been repackaged. The original packaging may have superficial issues but the item itself and any originally included accessories are in perfect, like new condition.
Display Model: These items are so cool that we put them on display in our legendary shop. The condition is brand new as received from the manufacturer with manufacturer warranty. Rest assured, these items undergo a very careful inspection before shipping.
Demo: These items have been on our sales floor for demo purposes and will likely show signs of use. The original packaging may no longer be included, but you can be assured that you are receiving an awesome item and an awesome price.

Introduced in 1960 as Gibson’s first square-shoulder acoustic, the instantly recognizable Hummingbird has grown into one of the world’s most beloved acoustic guitars, favored by generations of players spanning countless musical styles. The Hummingbird Original combines the model’s celebrated vintage-inspired design elements with modern Gibson craftsmanship and now features the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system, delivering amplified acoustic tone that faithfully reflects the instrument’s unique voice and the subtleties of every performance. Built with a square-shoulder body, the Hummingbird Original pairs a Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Scalloped X-bracing helps shape its dynamic response, while multi-ply binding accents the body. This time-honored tonewood combination provides the versatility that has defined the Hummingbird for decades, excelling whether strumming open-position chords or articulating melodic lead passages. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish completes the look, highlighting the guitar’s legendary silhouette and unmistakable visual appeal.
The mahogany neck is attached using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint and is carved to a comfortable Rounded profile. A rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays offers a classic playing experience. The headstock is fitted with gold Gotoh Keystone tuners and a bone nut, while the traditional Hummingbird truss rod cover and double antiqued binding further reinforce the instrument’s vintage character. A traditional belly-up rosewood bridge anchors the strings and is equipped with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. The famous Hummingbird pickguard remains one of the guitar’s defining visual elements, contributing to the instantly recognizable look that musicians and fans around the globe have come to associate with the model.
The Hummingbird Original now comes outfitted with the Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system. This active design incorporates two lightweight sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate, paired with individually optimized preamps to produce rich, natural amplified acoustic sound. The system preserves the instrument’s unplugged tonal character while providing exceptional amplified performance and gain-before-feedback comparable to traditional under-saddle pickups. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow for quick adjustments during performance while remaining virtually unseen by the audience. Combining vintage-inspired appointments, the renowned versatility of its square-shoulder design, and natural-sounding onboard electronics, the Hummingbird Original continues the legacy that has made it a favorite among players for more than sixty years. Ready for both stage and studio use, it ships in a hardshell case.
