The S40C-VT is a Graduate level model designed for the more advanced player, but remains comparatively light in weight and is therefore also suitable for accomplished young musicians.

It is similar to the S20C model. but has center vents in 2nd and 3rd finger LH and 3rd finger plate RH; an additional A Flat/B Flat and A Flat/A# mechanism, and double C key. This oboe includes the essential features found on most professional oboes, with mechanisms for almost every trill.

Howarth developed a special synthetic for the bore of the instrument’s top joint which they named the “Velvet Throat” (VT) option. It offers added protection by creating a humidity barrier at the most vulnerable point.

This S40C oboe is being offered with the option of the Velvet Throat (VT) synthetic lining of the top section of the top joint to prevent cracking in demanding climatic conditions.
