Get Classic Analog Waveforms With The Make Noise DPO Dual Voltage Controlled Oscillator Module

A dual Voltage Controlled Oscillator designed for generating complex waveforms. Expanding on the classic arrangement of Primary and Modulator Oscillators, the DPO has both of the VCOs operable as complex signal sources. It is in essence a Dual Primary Oscillator.


  • Vintage voiced, all analog
  • Triangle Core with Sine, Saw, Spike and Square wave shapes
  • Dedicated FM and Mod buses
  • Modulation source signals are internally routed with associated destination CV attenuators setting final depths
  • Mod Bus has added capability of using external source (patched at EXT. SouRCe input) in place of VCO 1 Sine
  • Bi-Directional Dynamic FM Bus allows for circular FM
  • VCO A features Hard Sync circuit which combined Dynamic FM yields complex sounds
  • VCO A operates as LFO, perfect for slow morphing of VCO B timbres
  • VCO B features complex timbral control through the use of a 3 parameter waveform shaping and Dynamic FM
  • Utilizes Vactrols
  • Pairs well with the Echophon

VCO Interaction:

  • Beat Frequency LED: visual indication of Phase difference between VCOs A and B.
  • Follow CV Input: unipolar control input. Range 0V to 5V.
  • Follow Attenuator: determines how well VCOA Follows VCO B. With nothing patched to Follow CV Input works as standard panel control. With Signal Patched to Follow CV Input, works as an attenuator for that signal.
  • FM Bus Index: unipolar panel control that sets the index (depth) of the FM.
  • FM Bus Index LED: indicates the currently programmed FM Index Value.
  • FM Bus Index CV Attenuverter: bipolar attenuator for FM Bus Index CV Input.
  • FM Bus Index CV Input: bipolar control signal input. Range +/- 4V

VCO B Timbre Controls and Mod Bus:

  • Shape Panel Control: unipolar control that determines the shape of the waveform feeding the Folding circuit. Morphs from Sine to Spike to Glitched Triangle
  • Shape CV Attenuator: unipolar attenuator for Shape CV Input.
  • Shape CV Input: unipolar control signal input. Normalled into the Mod Bus. Range 0V to +5V.
  • Angle Panel Control: tilts the added harmonics to either end of the wave-cycle.
  • Angle CV Attenuator: unipolar attenuator for Angle CV Input.
  • Angle CV Input: bi-polar control signal input. Normalled into the Mod Bus. Range 8V.
  • Fold Panel Control: unipolar control that continuously varies the low-order harmonics of the signal by folding the waveform into itself.
  • Fold CV Attenuator: unipolar attenuator for Fold CV Input.
  • Fold CV Input: unipolar control signal input. Normalled into the Mod Bus. Range 0V to +8V.
  • Strike Input: briefly opens the Fold circuit to 100%, 8 to 10V Gate or clock.
  • Mod Bus Index Panel Control: unipolar panel control that sets the index
