Mint or Open Box: The item may have been opened and tested but has been repackaged. The original packaging may have superficial issues but the item itself and any originally included accessories are in perfect, like new condition.
Display Model: These items are so cool that we put them on display in our legendary shop. The condition is brand new as received from the manufacturer with manufacturer warranty. Rest assured, these items undergo a very careful inspection before shipping.
Demo: These items have been on our sales floor for demo purposes and will likely show signs of use. The original packaging may no longer be included, but you can be assured that you are receiving an awesome item and an awesome price.

The DFX-1 is a multi-effect processing unit designed in collaboration with Aaron Sterling to add musical character and punch to any acoustic drum or percussion source. Craft everything from subtle to in-your-face drum sounds with studio-grade VCA and FET compression, two flavors each of Delay and Reverb, plus Saturation, Gating, an FX loop with customizable routing, and flexible EQ. Use the DFX-1 anywhere on your kit with any microphone—whether it’s a squashed, spacious room mic, a tight, gated snare, or even routed outboard for processing in post. With a high-performance microphone preamp with phantom power, an effects loop to connect external gear, MIDI connectivity, and user presets, a whole new world of sonic creativity becomes available right at your drum set.

Effects
The DFX-1 is built around three main effect engines—Compression, Delay, and Reverb—each with two distinctive flavors so you can move smoothly between vintage character and modern clarity. Use the Saturation and Tilt-style EQ controls for further tone shaping. Additionally, the FX loop can incorporate pedals or outboard gear, and route effects in different orders for radically different results.
Compression (VCA / FET)
- VCA: Models API 2500-style VCA compression for added punch and mix glue.
- FET: Emulates classic 1176-style FET compression for fast, gritty dynamics.
Delay (Vintage / Modern)
- Vintage: Warm, analog/tape-inspired repeats with natural degradation.
- Modern: Digital clarity for precise rhythmic echoes.
Reverb (Spring / Plate)
- Spring: Classic spring tank reflections with lively movement.
- Plate: Smooth, diffused plate-style ambience for a polished studio sheen.
Noise Gate
- Adjustable threshold, hold, and release to eliminate background noise.
Tone, Saturation, and EQ
- Saturation: Tube-like asymmetrical clipping for rich harmonic enhancement.
- EQ (Tilt EQ): Simple musical tilt control to balance highs and lows.
- Graphic / Parametric EQ Bands (Menu):
- LP Cut: 1 kHz–20 kHz
- HP Cut: 2 Hz–600 Hz
- Mid Cut: +6 dB to −18 dB with sweepable mid frequency (300–1 kHz) and adjustable Q
Routing and FX Loop
- Effect Order: Choose between Forward (Saturation → Compression → Delay → Reverb → Tone) or Reverse (Saturation → Reverb → Delay → Compression → Tone) for unique results.
- FX Loop Position: Insert pedals or outboard gear after Saturation, Delay, or Reverb.
Pads and Presets
- Pad A (Bypass): Toggle bypass (LED off = bypassed, LED on = active).
- Pad B (Preset Cycle): Cycle through presets in groups of three with color-coded LED indicators (Red = 1st, Green = 2nd, Blue = 3rd).
- Pad C (Tap Tempo): Tap to set delay BPM with adjustable divisions (Quarter, Triplet, Eighth, Sixteenth, Dotted).
- Up to 128 presets accessible via the preset menu or MIDI.
- Copy and paste presets between slots for easy organization.
